(Downloading from the vault: Problems) - Hi and Questions!

So hi! I'm new to the site and was looking over the forum and thought I'd give the server a shot. I seem to be having problems downloading the haks though. When I try accessing them from nwn vault it seems to link me to a page with a bunch of wing dings and no download starts when I click on the respective hak links. Anyone know anything about this?

Hi and welcome....

EGADS! You're right - most of the NWN Vault seems to be broken. Not just our files. I suspect foul play at the hands of a bitter Atari, Corp - who feels that 10 years of game life is way too long. Fie! I was told when I bought software that it was mine forever and I could download whatever I purchased, ad infinitum...

So it appears that the NWN master server will never return - people will no longer be able to find copies of NWN and we are out flappin' in cowboy land.

No worries - I bought the game and I will play it as I choose, ad infinitum. /endrant

That said, I am uploading the haks in .zip format to 4shared (a special one for the community) - You will be able to Download 3 zips - and that should do it. You'll need a decompression utility like www.winzip.com or www.winrar.com. i recommend winzip as that is the compression used.

The files wil be downloadable on www.4shared.com - it may take awhile (A tad less if you already have CEP 2.3 installed) but at least they'll all be in one spot.

2. I did some testing and it seems NOT to be an issue with the NWN-vault, but more an issue with a browser and the fileformat .7z AND .rar:
I am curently using Firefox and yes, if I Left-click the dlcr_xyz.7z-flile, Firefox opens another window with lots of cryptic things showing (probybly tries to display the archive as a webpage).

BUT, if I RIGHT-click it and choose "save file" (or something liek this: I have it in german here and the function differs from browser to browser, but there is a choice to download/save it), the download-window opens. I successfully saved it and checked the content - it was ok!

I did not have this issue with .zip-files (eg. our creature-haks). I could LEFT-click them in Firefox and download them. And I also tested it with a (old) version of the IExplorer (which I don't use, so it's not updated) and here, the download also worked for .7z-files (left-click). So I guess, it's a browser-issue.

I will do some more tests and if it works via right-click, I'll (additionally) repost the vault links.
