To all Players, thank you for your patience, it will all be worth it inside the next month or so as we move into our beta testing phase with a limited amount of areas.

this thread was suggested by an-marcach and is a very good idea, sometimes as builders we get caught up in the work but we need to keep the community apprised as to our progress and we all need to start to gear up for the best DragonLance Mod ever.

look for updates in the body of each builders initial post....

builders will now post in this thread by date and continue to update as to our progress with DLCR.



SOLINARI


april/8/10

I have nearly completed Caergoth and laid out much of the solamnic highway leading east from caergoth. Caergoth will be the starting Solamnic city that players can access through the Realm of Mishikal, which is our start point for the server. It has all amenities in the way of shops and inns and also boasts a modest cavalry detachment as well as housing one of Solamnia's infantry divisions.

have planned out and made designs for solamnic towns of Garnet and Starport, both smaller towns with alot of character, will be finished these towns within the week.



april/9/10

have finished putting in all all solmanic and coastlund areas save for filler/lvling areas and towns/cities.

caergoth work continuing, hope to have it finished and some screens to post by the end of the day.



april/10/10

made whitedell last night, a town along the coastlund highway west of solamnia. its a small town like many other that will be featured in DLCR.

tried to take screens but vista strikes again, cannot take screens unless in the toolset, still, will try other ways and/or take some of areas in the toolset.

April 8th 2010.

DARKENWOOD
Darkenwood has been completed and has multiple areas with pathways leading to and from the areas.. As you venture deeper in to the forest the density and peril increases.
The central feature is the glade of the Forest Master. a mythical beast of almost god like powers and abilities

CASTLES
Two castles have been designed and built on a large scale. Moats and guarded courtyards have been made and the concourse to the castle entrances are quite impressive. Once inside the heavily fortified walls there will be merchants and traders specifically for adventurers, where provisions, weapons and armour can be obtained.
Interiors are being layed out to accomodate living / working areas. Dungeons and holding cells will be added. Large rooms and regal halls are included that can be used for a multitude of RP scenarios.

TRAVEL
Roads, Dirt tracks and small overgrown paths have been created so that obvious routes between places of interest can be easily found but many secluded trails to the less frequently visited areas will remain discreet so as to promote adventuring and discovery.

April 10th 2010

I've quiet a few kettles boiling. I work on Tarsis, Solace and Haven + nearer outskirts. Tarsis is put to a rest right now to get Abanasinia North ready to be playable with Haven and Solave beeing connected by the Haven Road. Each settlement is made up of more than one area. Haven and Solace have the tricky parts done, though Solace is still missing one area. Haven is doing good progress. Some outskirts on the Haven Road are roughly done.
Will detail and update within the week!

Big parts of Haven are nearly done! It's mostly for details (placables), sounds and NPCs.
Also I'm working on a home made DLCR-subrace-script. Core is working nicely! Trying to work in some more "specials"... Wink

Since Evenstar is very busy right now, I decided to post on his doings. I'm sure, he will add some details as soon as he finds the time.
Evenstar is working on the core-mod at the moment. He adds tons of custom gear, adds storetemplates and encountertemplates. He said, he is nearly finished. When he gets this version out, we can set up stores and get some wilderness-areas to rock! Very Happy
So we're getting close to lauch a beta-test with some areas in the near future! (Though, we don't know, when this will be...)

april 23/10

have layed out starport and garnet and begun to detail out the solamnic highway and coastlund highway. as with the previous DLCO this will follow as closely as possible to the real maps of krynn and are based off of the atlas of krynn.

starport will be a sleepy fishing village, garnet a mountain town along the western edges of the solamnic national boundaries.

once i am done a little more detailing work on smaller towns and cities i will begin the high clerists tower and palanthas which will be massive structures but will run much smoother than last time thanks to our new tilessets which aside from a few players haveing issues loading them well are a godsend and reduce our overall need to put down placeables to get the detailing and look of the areas right. the high clerists tower of this mod will blow the previous one out of the water.

Apologies, true-believers. Betwixt work in life and work on the mod, I have been remiss in my updates. Thank you very much, Rider for taking the burden. I love this team.

Everything he (Rider) says is true. Most of my recent mod work will be transparent. Encounters, shopkeepers, self-shutting doors, and NPCs. Also, tweaked xp, fixed the sivak drac death (THANKS RIDER), and many other minor additions that should add up to a whole new version.

Hope to send that out today...we'll see.

have completed caergoth entirely and laid out several other areas, caergoth will boast a cavalry detachment, jousting, shops and inns and a solamnic barracks for a garrison. all that remains to be built for this city is npc's and shop interiors.

detailed several other solamnic highway areas and have nearly finished preliminary layout for all highway areas for solamnia, coastlund is next and as stated before is also received some attention as whitdell is laid out and nearly done as well as the entire highway length laid out.

Our homebrew DLCR-race-/subrace-system seems to be behaving well. So we announce, that we will have the standard DragonLance races (Qualinesti, Silvanesti, Kagonesti, Kender, Hill Dwarf, Mountain Dwarf), each with customized properties.

Have completed three more solamnic highway areas and begun to layout several others, the solamnic highway is long but each area will have encounters or entrances to caves / encounter areas. the tiles look very beautiful and i wish i could figure out how to take a damn screenshot with vista or my mac...neither will do it and i am sorry for this as screens tend to show better what we are doing than words do.

Just a question about the above screenshot's, will racial ability adjustments be applied as none permanent boasts as I'm seeing above? Cause I've always found just having the stats applied by a dm upon creation so it doesn't conflict with magic items/spell effects to be better in my opinion, that, and more importantly for me, Intel boasts that are applied in a non-temporary fashion grant skill points! Very Happy

im pretty sure that they are permanent changes, an-marcach has crafted them well and will describe it more in detail later but the intent and what we have so far is subraces that enter and are automatically changed, appearance stats and all plus any tokens or skins and that is the only time you have to go through that as a character, it is from that point of creation set in stone, if any mistakes are made by players making their subraces they will be dealt with leto wise or have to remake.

as i said though, an-marcach will explain it in much more depth than i can as he did the work and is the resident expert.

Late answer to Drake concerning the stats:
Right now, the statadjustments are applied to the toon upon entering the mod. They are instantly activated and cannot be removed by the player. And no DM is needed for this procedure.

completed solamnic highway areas north of solanthus/thelgaard crossroads. solanthus jousting grounds have been finished on the outskirts of solanthus.

finished two more coastlund highway areas.

also finished "the wayfarers inn" a dockside inn and tavern in caergoth.

we have as a team devised a new plan for loadscreens which we think you will all like. part map and part artistic screen of the area you are about to enter. we think this will be a lot more true to dragonlance and also more artistic as well as helping players by advertising key features of the areas and the layout of them as well so you know where roads lead and such.

we will start to come out with some examples over the next couple of weeks.

yes, we are doing all we can to keep the downloads to a minimum but we are also making the custom nature and visual accuracy of krynn a top priority so i hope players don't mind spending the extra half hour or hour, as that is all it will entail if not less.

still working on wayreth, this area has to be just right and is going to be as accurate to the books as the toolset will allow, so far i have the towers and walls laid out in proper positions and am adding the fine details that will add character, then it will be time to make the inside.

finished Gedron's Arcanum, an underground magic emporium in the heart of caergoth. they practice there but not openly as knights and solamnics in general do not trust magi even those with white robes.

finished the grounds of the tower of high sorcery at waywreth, it is layed out as its should be with a large triangular wall with one entrance which leads to the two towers in the center.

Just sent out a nearly finished basemod with (I think Wink ) all the core-mechanics adjusted and working. Together with the already added mechanics-work by Evenstar, we should be ready to assemble a mod for beta-playing! bounce
We have to add player-areas and do some more testing, but maybe in a couple of weeks, maybe... (depending on the amount of time, RL wants from us Rolling Eyes ).
