OUTDATED (April 2020)! Left here in case it needs to be reactivatedHere is a way to make players able to join the server again, if that person has a complete new NWN1 version with a new CD key:
Public CD key:http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/CD_keyCD keys are private, not to be shared with others. However, there is a shortened form of the key, called the public CD key, which is transmitted to the host of a multiplayer game and which can be obtained with the NWScript command GetPCPublicCDKey(). This shortened form is an 8-character code composed of alternating characters in the CD key, starting with the second and ending with the sixteenth. For example:
CD-key: 12345 - 67890 - ABCDE - FGHIJ - KLMNO - PQRST - UVWXY
Public key: 2 4 6 8 0 B D F
Instruction for a player:First, you have to get your original "public key" from the DLCR-Staff (BD as a hoster or from me, if you've been a kind of "longe time visitor").
You'll have to edit your nwncdkey.ini, which is in the NWN1 folder.
Before you edit it, BACKUP your current nwncdkey.ini
Now open the nwncdkey.ini (eg. with notepad.exe), and go to the line where it says "Key1=".
The public CD key is stored by DLCR. It's not the complete CD key, but only parts of it. Take the first 8 even numbered digits. That is, take the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, and 16th character (either number or letter) from the CD key.
Your public key was recorded as: A8RTGJZ1
So, it means, that you replace the 2nd, 4th, ... character (in the line "Key1=") as such:
2nd A
4th 8
6th R
8th T
10th G
12TH J
14TH Z
16th 1
Save it. Then you should not be bootetd anymore, because it checks for these 16 characters.
But again: before you make changes, make a safety copy of your current nwncdkey.ini.And, as written in the 1st PM: It should also work, if you just copy over your old NWN CD key or enter the the CD key from your 1st OLD NWN1-CD behind "Key1="

Addition 1:
Here is an additional info, which might help, if just editing the first key doesn't solve it. Quote M.: "...
but the final success was when I also changed Key2= and Key3= to the original ones. I do not know why the original keys did not work when I first tried the game after reinstallation, but after changing them to new and back they suddenly worked fine."
Conclusion: Never loose your old original keys! ---------------------------------------------------------
Addition2:
http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/CD_keyAs an exception to the "one computer" rule, copies of the game purchased from
GoG.com all come with the same CD key (a consequence of GoG.com removing copy protection from all games they sell). This causes no problems in single-player, but can be a problem in multiplayer. For those wishing to use Neverwinter Nights for multiplayer,
GoG.com will issue unique CD keys to their customers who request them.[1]
