PostSubject: Persistent Quests   Persistent Quests Icon_minitimeFri Jul 03, 2020 9:01 am

For some time, we had some quests hidden in the bowls of this module. Maybe some of you already have stumbled upon them. Here and there things got in the way, so there was no real public post on these, yet.
Well, now it’s time to officially announce them and give some hints as to where you might find a start!

The quests are persistent! There are still a few edges to be worked on, which I’ll write out in detail a bit more below, but in general: If a quest is accepted, it stays accepted, if there is a status change, it will be recorded and if it’s finished, it’s finished for this character!
Some of them have journal entries to inform you about the stage of an accepted quest.

The first set of quest are designed by Winterhawk - THANKS!

In his quests, not every character can accept every quest. There are checks eg. for certain abilities or the level of a character. Most of Winterhawk’s quests are designed for groups, so they may be a little hard for a lonely character, if the level is not high enough. We’re working on that balance, but feedback would be very helpful here!

Winterhawk is a storyteller! He has written two books by now, which are to be found here:
Book 1: http://harvestmoonconsortium.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2744
Book 2: http://harvestmoonconsortium.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=137&t=2803

And since Winterhawk likes storytelling, some of his quests are long adventures with fights, finding secrets, avoiding traps, solving (IMO awesome designed) riddles and other spices!

Now these sort of “greater quests” actually tend to take up some longer time = an hour is not really enough, to get through. But since they are persistent, you can pick up on them again, if you run out of time and have to log out.
One drawback ATM is, if there is a server reset. As written, the status is persistent, but your last location is not! So, if you dropped out on a lower level of eg. a quest dungeon, you’ll have to worm yourself back down there from the surface. We’re working on that, but ATM it’s working this way.

So, here are some hints regarding the current quests:

1. Hillhome area:
Not every character can travel directly to Hillhome. There is a check on the according area transition on the world map. But there is an entry point near Hillhome, which can be used by anybody.
The quest giver is to be found somewhere within the peacefully inhabited Hillhome areas. It’s a short low level quest.

2. Gwyntarr area:
Look out for an old farm man around Gwyntarr. This could be a longer quest! Within the quest areas, there is the opportunity to pick up another quest! But you need to be able to speak a certain language for that! A teacher in Solace can help, if the stats of the character are in range.

3. Plains of Dust - King’s Road areas:
When finding the right place, there is more than one quest to be started within these quest areas! A wonderful creation (IMO)! And also these quests will take some longer time to get through!

The plan is - with time - to add more quests and find a solution for a respawn point within an active quest, if there is a server reset.

Have fun!
